2007 Rally on the River!

Speaking for myself, the one and only Motorcycle Web Chik, I had a ball at the 2007 Rally on the River at Green's Canoe Rental this past weekend. Hey, I got to continue to drool over the 2007 Hyosung GV250 in Silver and Black that I don't even know how to ride but would love to take home. I'm surprised Slam still has it. Y'think maybe it's just waiting for me to stop hesitating and snap it up?

I was lucky enough to be the bass player for the band, Memphis Smith, which also includes my hubby, Rick, on lead guitar and our buddy, Charlie, who really knows how to get some cool sound of of his 1937 National res-o-phonic (I think I spelled that right). If you don't know what a res-o-phonic is, Charlie'd be happy to tell you all about it. Thanks again, Skip, for providing me a lamp on Friday night so I could see where my fingers were going. Unlike my sweetie and Charles, I've only been playing bass for a short time and haven't developed the "feel" of those notes yet. I still have to look at the fretboard to make sure I'm making the right note!

Friday night found our band of motorcycle enthusiasts gathered under and around the awning that housed the beer kegs. Imagine that....! Needless to say, they were an appreciative audience and we all had a blast. We got there after the burgers and hot dogs had already been devoured and had to stop at McDonald's on the way home. Slam made some crack about "the contract" when we came straggling up in the dark to set up our stuff but I'm pretty confident that we fulfilled our musical obligations before the weekend was over.

We did make it in time Saturday evening to watch Greg Land, El Presidente, hand out some hard earned "trophies" to various attendees. My hat's definitely off to the young feller of 85 who came out for the festivities. Once a motorcycle enthusiast, always a motorcycle enthusiast!

The fireworks show on Saturday night was AWESOME! Rick and I agreed that what we saw was probably the best fireworks display we'd ever seen before. I got some pretty cool photos, too, and I'll be posting them on the website soon (and sending some to you, too, Skip!)

Enough from me. Let's hear from the REAL motorcycles riders, guys AND gals, who made it out for the Rally this past weekend. Personally, I can't wait for next year!

Why Didn't They Keep Him?

We've all heard of alien abduction but how many of us have actually been abducted? According to Robbie, he's been aboard an alien spaceship...probed and prodded by aliens. He even claims they stole his memories of Shelley, his one great love (who didn't keep him either...). Hey...wait a minute...I thought this was a MOTORCYCLE show, not Aliens 'R Us...I thought Slam was the Man...WON'T ANYBODY KEEP ROBBIE????????

It's All About...Robbie!

Didja ever notice that when one person tells a story or joke, somebody else has one? Well, that seemed to be the case with this week's Jammin' with Slam crew. Robbie kicked off the storytelling marathon with his story of being a wimp who needs a motorcycle to get R-E-S-P-E-C-T (I'll bet you thought I was going to say get something else, didn't you?)

Slam Returns from the 2006 MotoGuzzi Rally in Iowa (yep, Iowa...)

When he's not busy selling motorcycles (and that's not often, folks), he's on a motorcycle hanging out with other motorcyclists. Last weekend, July 13-16, Slam was in Elkader, Iowa for the 35th Annual MotoGuzzi National Owner's Club Rally. He had plenty of stories to share, so check out the podcast. Remember, Slam can be heard every Friday morning LIVE on KKID 92.9FM from 7:30-8am CST. The Jammin' with Slam podcast is also part of the CoolCast Radio lineup on the web. Who is this Frish Character and Why Does He Keep Coming Back?

Congratulations to Rachel "The Hammer" Dunkus on her graduation from college and entry into the field of education in St. James, Missouri. Rachel will be teaching 4th graders. As a matter of fact, she's teaching summer school already! Slam and wife, Mary, are busy preparing the Dunkus household for a party to help Rachel celebrate. The Hammer? Well, according to Slam, Rachel is a MEAN volleyball player!

Meanwhile, back at KKID, Robbie Frish is planning his next alimony payment.....Trudy's the lucky recipient...but she has to go out with him first....I wonder if he's thinking of tempting her with a new motorcycle?????????
